The Story of the Man who Couldn’t Stop Eating
It was May, 4012. Jupo led a chorus in a tavern, many local revealers chimed in.
“Here we give to God
The Bounty which we brought
And may he hold us dear
For at least a thousand years!”
They all slammed their drinks down their throats and gargled and laughdered with knees palms splattered.
“Tut, tut,” said Margo Crow-Eyed as the cheers wound down.
“But what if thy bounty
Doesn’t sacrifice make
What if thy God
Doesn’t sacrifice take
Whatever will you do?”
“Then your child
Will see me through.”
She sneered and drove off.
Lest the revealers
Drank more brew.
Jupo had lived in a circle dimension for some time but landed in a quadrant of the Upper Alms about 5 ago. He was starting a new life, meeting new people, staying busy and helping out in the local economy.
Then he got an idea.
“Watch me eat this hotdog.”
Raego looked at him sideways.
“Seriously!”
And he swallowed a link whole.
“What the fuck!”
Raego replied
As Jupo noticed
A shine in his eye
Well it soon became
A show to be seen
Jupo could swallow
Just about anything
He’d post up out front
And sit out a tray
And whatever you’d dish him
His mouth would obey
“Feed me!”
His mind would say
The tray
The Mouth
Then
Oy vey
“Feed me!”
To another
Foray
“I haven’t eaten enough
So if I may,”
He started to say.
Not because he was poor,
My friend
But because he wanted more,
My friend
So he started to eat
The silliest things
Shoes and flowers (trucks and towers)
And the East Wing
He ate until eating
T’Wasn’t fun anymore
It suddenly became
An astounding chore
“Feed me”
His mind would say
“Feed me
And it’ll go away”
It wouldn’t
Go away
Jupo acted like he
Just couldn’t hear it.
The sounds of the city and
The drugs kinda smeared it.
“Feed me”
Sow he started craving
Pounds at a time
Mouthfuls
And fistfuls
And whole baby swine
“Feed me”
His mind would say
Every damn second
Of every damn day
“Feed me”
Can it go away?
Jupo was sordid
And stinky
And morbid
“Raego, friend,
Can you please help
To sort it
Can I find some relief?
I feel I’m
Aborted
You have no
Sense for my grief!”
Raego’s friendship was implied
Raego misguided
Sought to quench
And abide him
Deciding his friend
Should be fed
Un-abridled
He made plans for ol’ Jupo
To eat twice his size
And have a bed while being
“Hospitalized”
“Feed me”
Jupo’s mind would say
And the people around him
Thought he was okay
Just that what was happening
Wasn’t happening that day
So then it was March
And he was hooked to machines
They tried to feed him
Just about everything
He’d even ate bags and
Computer screens
Was caught in the morgue
With a tub of cream cheese
Margo Crow-Eyed
Just happened to be
Baring a child
In the very same wing
Likely as well
In midst of the wilds
As she heard everything
And begat a smile
“Feed me!”
She crooned and soared
“What foolish a man
That himself has adored
And only to want
No, needing for more
I shouldn’t have fucked him,
But I was bored”
So she ventured off
After what she bore
Kindly stealing cigarettes
From the corner store
Her child found himself
Lying in a small tub
On some random shelf
Wondering if there
Was
Anything else
Knowing that life
Wasn’t supposed to be
So confined
But really was just
A matter of time
“Feed me”
His mind did say
But unlike his father
Attention he did not pay
As he ignored it
It stayed at bay
Juno came to be
A year passed
While pierced with cables
Both of them pondered
Realities now disabled
Jupo missing his
California king
Kept knocking over
Whatever in reach
Juno however
Didn’t know how to be
He knew his mother was
Nowhere seen
Happy to turn over
To find a light breeze
And laughter out loud
Was intoxicating
“Feed me”
Their minds did say
And one would falter
And the other couldn’t sway
Raego found out
Who Jupo had fathered
And rushed to tell him
Thinking it’d make him less bothered
“Juno’s his name
I can take you to see him
He lives in this complex
Please!
You must see the relation!”
Wheeled with armored bags
In tow
Raego pushed poor Jupo to the
13th floor
Raego pled to show
There was so much more more
Than just having your store
“An tha’ fookin’ whore!”
“Feed me”
His mind was frayed
Jupo remembered the dinner-
Tacos and sorbet
Now he saw lights
The cinders in disarray
They always burn so bright
Right before they fade away
So Raego led Jupo
To his motherless son
And only as soon as
The greetings begun
Raego thought Jupo
To give him a kiss
Only to miss
Juno found the abyss
“Feed me”
Their minds did say
The big one empty
And the small one crazed
Raego stared in horror
His mind racing
His heart pacing
But his feet were stuck
Like two semi-trucks
Jupo had swallowed Juno
Gathering the cables
Like spaghetti
“He just kept shoving everything in his mouth.”
Raego in horror
Saw Jupo’s stomach
Moving
His gray face
Confused
Amorphous and
Contused
Jupo concave
Saw the mistakes made
“It was all due to, oh dammit
What’s her name?”
He laughed a little bit while he felt some Pain
“She was really cute
Maybe we’ll get married someday”
Morrigan married
The death and the flesh
She road in on
Wings cindered
Quiet as Hec
“I gave berth to your
Kindred
You can’t look in the eye
Now you’ll be lucky
That there’s no afterlife
Even your eyes are
Blank
Don’t criticize
I’ll remain shameless
While you
Fantasize
Let’s beak it down
Your death is something that just happened
Doesn’t mean much unless you cared
But it’s you that can eat and eat and eat
And then find yourself
Abdomen bare
A trail you left
You let everything there
You seemed so aware
But the evidence
Squared
The obvious outcome
You couldn’t fool
The fulcrum
You’re an idiot
And I’ll see you in Hel”
